The number of passengers flying via Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SGIA) increased 95% in the first half of 2010 compare to same period last year.

According to the announcement from the SGIA, in the first half of 2009, 1,799,300 domestic passengers use the airport, whereas in 2010 this number increased to 3,465,570.

Number of international passengers between January and June period counted 771,340 in 2009 and 771,340 in 2010. Totally, number of passengers using airport is increased from 2,570,640 (2009) to 5,007,000 in 2010. The increase from last year is a record of 95%.

SGIA aims that 11 million passengers will use airport by the end of 2010. SGIA, which is one of the fastest growing airports in Europe, has 25 million passengers capacity. As of today, there are flights to 66 international and 25 domestic points. 51 airline companies operate at SGIA.
