In spite of a difficult international economic conjecture, “Tunisair”, Tunisia’s flag ship company has managed to stabilize its turnover, as well as increasing its market share. In November 2009, the company strengthened its Italian market share by an additional 1 million Euros compared with 2008.
The company’s overall balance posted a 6% increase in the last quarter of 2009.
Regular flights increased by 3%, while other flights decreased with by 17% due to the decrease in traffic.
According to observers, with signs of economic recovery accompanied by a decline of unemployment in Europe, this decrease is temporarily. On the bright side, “Tunisair” has signed at the end of 2009, an agreement with “SeniorenReizen” an Austrian tour operator which will enable 9000 Austrian tourists to visit Tunisia in April and May 2010 as part of a promotional “back to back” operation, destined to attract senior Austrian tourists.
To this purpose, “Tunisair” will operate 60 flights between airports in Austria such as Graz, Linz and Salzburg and Tunisia’s Tunis-Carthage, Monastir and Djerba.
