Crowne Plaza Hotels will build the first four-star hotel in Duqm.

The construction will begin from mid-December and is likely to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2012.

Built in traditional Omani style, the four-storey structure on a 10-hectare plot next to the Arabian Sea will feature more than 200 guest rooms and suites, as well as a complete range of dining, leisure, and recreational amenities.

A large business centre housing meeting and conference facilities will also be built as part of the luxury property. The hotel will provide a diverse range of dining options featuring an all-day dining restaurant, seafood grill, pool cafe and a lobby lounge.

Leisure facilities will include a fitness centre and exterior pool. Business needs will be fully serviced by a business centre, ballroom and full state-of-the-art meeting and conference hall facilities.

The hotel will be developed by Omran, Oman’s leading tourism-related investment, development and management company, and is located 8km from Duqm town. At present there are now star hotels in Duqm. In August 2008, Omran and the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) signed an agreement to develop the resort. IHG is an international hotel company with seven prominent brands managing more than 4,000 hotels worldwide.
