Kempinski Hotels is set to open a brand new chapter in the GCC with the launch of two new properties in 2010 that demonstrate an ever-expanding portfolio of offerings for the luxury hospitality brand in the region.
The first of two residence properties making their regional debut this year, Kempinski Residences & Suites, Doha, opened its doors to its first guests in April, with Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah set to follow in the following month.
Kempinski’s first residence property to open in the Middle East and Africa Region, Kempinski Residences & Suites, Doha is located at the heart of Doha’s central business district, West Bay. The 62-floor Residence tower is one of the tallest in the capital city, boasting 370 luxury serviced residences for short-, mid-, and long-term rental, and stunning sea views. Facilities include two indoor swimming pools, an extensive gym area with state-of-the art fitness equipment, male and female steam rooms, treatment rooms and a day-care center for kids. Additionally, the residence tower hosts various restaurants and cafes including an all day dining restaurant, a high-end gourmet shop and café, a bar at the leisure area, as well as twenty-four hour room service.
Kempinski’s second residence property, and its second property in Dubai – Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah – is expected to welcome its first guests in May. Located on the man-made island of Palm Jumeirah, the Hotel & Residences boast 244 luxury suites, penthouses and villas offering striking views either over the Palm Jumeirah lagoon and the Dubai skyline in the distance, or undisturbed views of the Arabian Gulf. This elegant beachside setting is complemented with 5 acres of landscaped gardens, 500 metres of white sandy private beach, a 1,200 sqm free-form outdoor swimming pool, an extensive gym with state-of-the-art equipment, a pampering spa and a kids’ club and playground. The exquisite suites, penthouses and villas all enjoy additional terrace space, some with the extravagance of an outdoor private pool or Jacuzzi. Several other projects also feature prominently in the brand’s regional developmental pipeline, including two projects in Saudi Arabia in Jeddah and Riyadh, a second exciting project signed on in Qatar, and Kempinski’s first foray into Bahrain and Oman.
Excavation work on Kempinski Hotel, Riyadh, due to open in 2012, is steadily progressing with the ground-breaking and foundation-laying ceremony to be held in May. Kempinski is expected to roll out the red carpet at the ceremony, which will be held under Saudi royal patronage and attended by Kempinski’s top executive team, including Reto Wittwer, President and CEO of Kempinski Hotels and Ulrich Eckhardt, Kempinski President Middle East and Africa.
The hotel will boast an upscale commercial tower with 300 luxury guest rooms and suites, two restaurants, three cafés, conference facilities, ballroom for up to 2000 guests, two spas and separate wellness centres for men and women, selected boutique style retail outlets, Manhattan-style smart apartments and offices in addition to state-of-the-art business facilities with the aim of leading the luxury hospitality market in Riyadh in both, leisure and corporate segments.
Meanwhile, the Kempinski Hotel, Jeddah, boasts fantastic view of the Red Sea and is set to be the first green intelligent hotel building in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, when it opens in 2012. The 240-metre high tower hotel aims to be the finest address for leisure travelers in Jeddah featuring first class facilities including 250 luxury guest rooms and suites, 71 serviced apartments, two restaurants, a stunning spa, fitness centre, swimming pool and a 1000 square metre ballroom. Moreover, corporate guests can avail themselves of the advanced business and meetings facilities including fully equipped modern meeting rooms, VIP offices and business suites.
The strategic partnership built between Kempinski Hotels and Alfardan Group while working on the Doha Residence project in Qatar will continue with the announcement of a stunning new project on The Pearl, Qatar. The Kempinski Hotel, Marsa Malaz’s spectacular domed building promises sweeping sea views from a dramatic setting.
Kempinski’s Bahrain property is due to open in 2011. The mixed-use property is developed by Majid Al Futtaim Group, and comprises a vibrant entertainment, hospitality and retail offering, which also includes the recently opened Bahrain City Centre mall.
Kempinski’s first property in Oman, Kempinski Hotel The Wave, Muscat, is also progressing towards a scheduled opening in 2013. The luxury hotel will boast 309 luxury guest rooms and suites in addition to 78 Kempinski Residences as well as state-of-the-art business and leisure facilities including a ballroom for 400 people, 12 meeting rooms and 12 restaurants and cafes with the aim of leading the luxury hospitality market in Muscat in both leisure and corporate segments.
