Members of the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) welcomed one of their newest associate members this past weekend via a familiarization trip to the site of the newly renovated Montreal Hotel. JITOA members and guests spent Friday evening at the Montreal Hotel located adjacent to Shaubak Castle, followed on Saturday with a guided tour of Shaubak Castle itself.

The Montreal Hotel is a project of the Jordan Heritage Revival Company (JHRC), launched in 2010 with monies from the King Abdullah II Development Fund. The hotel is owned by the (JHRC) and is designed to generate income for residents of the surrounding community.

On Friday evening, JITOA members had an introduction to the Montreal Hotel grounds and facilities followed by an evening meal. On Saturday morning, they concluded their tour of the facility and spent two hours on a guided tour of Shaubak Castle.

The participants of the trip were very impressed with the hotel and the guided tour of Shaubak Castle. “The Montreal Hotel is a superb facility and centrally located for visitors wanting to spend a day exploring Shaubak Castle and extending their trips to Petra and Wadi Rum” said Mohammad Samih, JITOA’s Chairman.

One of the pillars of the 2011 – 2015 National Tourism Strategy focuses on the development of local communities. Considering the opportunity to support the local community surrounding Shaubak Castle, the Montreal Hotel certainly fulfills this objective.  As such, it may prove to be an attractive property for responsible travelers and tourists, those who are most interested in utilizing their tourism expenditures to benefit local residents.
