Operating into Istanbul Ataturk Airport on the 6th of September, the one-off Emirates A380 visit will be a first for the airline in Turkey, which has been operating into the country since 1987.
“More than four years after its introduction to the Emirates’ fleet, the A380 continues to generate great interest from around the globe,” said Adel Al Redha, Executive Vice President Engineering and Operations. “We are confident that visitors to the A380 during Airex will be pleasantly surprised by the extraordinary features of our flagship aircraft,” he added. “Turkey is an important market for us in Europe, and Istanbul continues to experience strong passenger traffic returning consistently high load factors.”
“We would like to thank the various bodies who have been involved in bringing our A380 to Istanbul to showcase to the public,” continued Al Redha, “Although we have no immediate plans to operate an A380 on the route in the near future, we remain committed to providing customers in Turkey with seamless connectivity with our innovative product through our Dubai hub.”
Further investment in the Dubai hub will be reflected with the opening of the world’s first dedicated A380 concourse, set to begin operating in early 2013.
While touring the aircraft, visitors can experience the On-board Lounge, an area for premium passengers to meet and relax. They can also visit the First Class cabin and relax in one of 14 flat-bed, massage-equipped private suites. The First Class cabin also has two on-board shower spas, ensuring a revitalised and refreshed experience for Emirates’ passengers, view the business class with fully lie flat seats, and experience the the superior comfort available to economy class passengers of the A380.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Emirates, the biggest A380 customer, to bring the A380 to Airex Istanbul this year,” said Christopher Buckley, Airbus Executive Vice President Europe, Asia and Pacific. “The A380 is the most efficient and advanced aircraft in its size category and while our A380 flight test aircraft have visited Istanbul twice before, this is the first time one of our customer’s A380s has visited Istanbul. We are therefore delighted to be able to showcase the superior cabin comfort and innovation made possible by the biggest, widest and quietest cabin in the skies.”
