Kingsgate Hotel Abu Dhabi, part of the Millennium & Copthorne Hotel group, has hosted a free screening of critically acclaimed feature-length documentary, Happy, yesterday. The screening, took place in the hotel’s lobby lounge was part of World Happy Day with hundreds of similar screenings around the globe.
Directed by Academy Award® nominee, Roko Belic, the film aims to become a trigger for an international movement towards greater global happiness. It takes the viewers on a journey across continents in search of the keys to happiness, from Okinawa and the village with the most centenarians in the world, to the bayous of Louisiana, learning lessons from each individual they meet along the way. Human stories and science come together to give viewers a deeper understanding of why and how we can pursue more fulfilling, healthier and happier lives.
As well as holding a public screening, Kingsgate Hotel also held two private screenings of Happy, one for in-house guests and the second for staff.
Mashhour Al Refai, General Manager of Kingsgate Hotel Abu Dhabi said:
“Our aim as a hotel is to make our guests happy. Typically we do this through a combination of great rates, friendly service and helpful staff. Now we are looking forward to helping people find others ways to improve their overall wellbeing as the film ‘Happy’ will help us understand how to be happy. Kingsgate Hotel is located right in the centre of Abu Dhabi city, close to Abu Dhabi Mall, making us the perfect post-shopping stop for those who were spending their Saturday in the city centre, and we greatly enjoyed welcoming new and old guests into the hotel.”
Millennium & Copthorne chose to screen the film to the public for free in many of its hotels, whilst in others it hosted private screenings for employees as part of its corporate campaign to promote total wellbeing.
