Dusit Thani Dubai has been once again rewarded for their green initiatives within the UAE and named by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) as one of their top ten waste management contributors.

At EEG’s Annual Waste Management Awarding Ceremony, coinciding with World Environment Day, Dusit Thani Dubai’s efforts were placed in the Top Ten Bracket for their Tetra Pak Recycling Campaign.

EEG’s program towards responsible waste management practices by way of action programs as recycling have been an on-going initiative for more than 15 years. Dusit Thani Dubai have been actively supporting these initiatives, including waste collection and recycling campaigns which covers major waste streams. From September 2011 through to May 2012, During the course of the Tetra Pak Recycling Campaign, the hotel recycled an average of 114kg of Tetra Paks, with a combined total of more than 900kg from September to the end of May.

On receiving the award, James Wilson, General Manager, Dusit Thani Dubai noted: “We are very proud and thankful to the Emirates Environmental Group. They work tirelessly promoting good practices and encouraging businesses and individuals to do more to protect the environment. It is great to work in association with them and our colleagues take great pride in doing so.

“Over the past years we have made every effort to limit our impact on the environment, both through contributing in EEG’s campaigns and through our own initiatives. To be given this appreciation from EEG is a great honour.”

The news comes shortly after the hotel celebrated a new record in its recycling collections, having recycled almost 18,000kg of waste during the first quarter of 2012.
