Turkey’s leading low-cost airline, Pegasus Airlines, increased the number of guests carried on both domestic and international routes in the first nine months of this year by 22.3 per cent year on year.
The airline carried 12.58 million guests between January and September 2013, translating to a 22.3 per cent year on year increase according to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) traffic data for September 2013, having carried 10.29 million guests during the same period in 2012.
In the first 10 months of 2013*; Pegasus Airlines added a total of 18 new routes with nine new routes into western Europe, the Balkans, Russia and the Middle East, its new destinations being Barcelona , Belgrade, Bishkek (as Pegasus Asia), Doha, Moscow, Nuremberg, Sarajevo, Tirana and Sochi. Within Turkey it has also added nine new routes: Istanbul to Amasya (Merzifon), Denizli, Balıkesir -Edremit, Erzurum, Kahramanmaras, Mardin, Mus, Nevsehir and Sirnak.; which translates to a 21.9 per cent growth in guest numbers on Turkish routes and a 23 per cent increase on Pegasus’ international routes.
