The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority in cooperation with University of Sharjah has announced the 9th batch of Professional Tourist Guides Course as part of the Authority’s efforts to bolster the tourism sector in the emirate and improve the quality of professional services and facilities offered to visiting tourists.
The 11-day licensing course, to be held from June 16 to 27, includes both theory and practical lessons by the University of Sharjah faculty and professional experts besides field visits to a number of tourist attractions and cultural and tourism landmarks in the emirate.
Over the past 4 years, more than 100 tourist guides have successfully been trained and granted licenses in cooperation with the University of Sharjah.
The professional training and licensing tourist guides course includes lessons and lectures on the various facets of Sharjah’s history, culture, architecture, archaeology and the economy. Field visits to a number of museums, tourist sites and archaeological sites and backgrounders on future tourism projects, such as the Heart of Sharjah and Heritage Village in Al Khan area etc form part of the course.
