Thailand based hospitality-management company, ONYX Hospitality Group, announced the appointment of five significant roles at corporate head office, in their North Asia division, and at various properties across Thailand.

David Cumming, VP Operational Development, ONYX Hospitality Group

With 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, David has been with Amari since 2004 working at Amari Watergate Bangkok and Amari Orchid Pattaya. Prior to joining corporate office, David’s was running Amari’s leading resort property, Amari Orchid as General Manager. In his new role as VP of Operational Development for ONYX, he will be working on the pre-opening phases of new hotels globally. A British national, David brings with him a wealth of experience from Great Britain, Egypt, the UAE, Oman, and Thailand.

Simon Dell, VP Operations ONYX North Asia / GM OZO Wesley Hong Kong

A British national who grew up in Switzerland and graduated in Business and Hospitality Administration from Johnson and Wales University, Simon brings strong expertise in hotel operations, pre-openings and organisational change. Simon’s career with ONYX began in 2008 as Executive Assistant Manager of Amari Orchid Pattaya, before being appointed General Manager of Amari Vogue Krabi in 2009. His most recent role was General Manager of the newly opened Amari Hua Hin. In his new position, Simon will be responsible for the opening of the group’s first OZO property, OZO Wesley Hong Kong, as well as overseeing the operations of ONYX’s North Asia division.

Christoph Leonhard, General Manager of Amari Hua Hin

Christoph, a German national with over 17 years of hospitality experience joined Amari originally in 2000 as Executive Assistant Manager at Amari Watergate Bangkok, and returned again in 2009 as the General Manager of Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui. With his international hotel experience from Thailand, Germany, and the USA, Christoph successfully led the Samui team and brought home a number of awards in the years that he was there. In his new role, Christoph will ensure the continued success of Amari Hua Hin following its strong opening in 2012. He looks forward to firmly positioning the property on the domestic and international map.

Martin Kunzmann, General Manager of Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui

A graduate of Swiss Hotel Management School in Adelaide, Martin has been working in the hospitality industry for 18 years, first joining Amari in 2007. Starting off as Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, Martin moved around properties across the country expanding his experience from Amari Vogue Krabi to Amari Emerald Cove Koh Chang, and eventually to Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui, where he was promoted to Resident Manager and most recently, to General Manager. His first encounter with Amari however, goes way back to his childhood. Growing up with a hotelier father, Martin lived in Amari Don Muang Bangkok for two years whilst his father managed that property, making Martin a second generation Kunzmann Amari GM.

Brendan Daly, General Manager of Amari Orchid Pattaya

For Daly’s first appointment with the Amari brand he will oversee the 523 room property situated on the picturesque northern crescent of vibrant Pattaya Bay. Brendan brings to his new role over 12 years of experience in successful hotel operations management from across Thailand and Australia with Sheraton, Accor, Darling Harbour Hotels, and Sofitel. Before joining ONYX, he directed the pre-opening and the opening of the first Aloft Hotel in South East Asia as General Manager.
