The Sharjah Tourism Excellence Awards are being held tomorrow (Monday) once again to celebrate and reward the high achievers of the tourism sector and media for their contribution and efforts to promote a culture of excellence in the emirate.

The STE Awards, being hosted by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority for the fifth year, are part of the Authority’s strategy and initiatives to encourage excellence and improve services in the crucial tourism industry in the emirate in accordance with highest international quality standards and in pursuance of the vision and guidance of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, will honour the high achievers and all those who made a difference during last year at a lavish ceremony and gala dinner at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  Some of the categories of the STE Awards include the Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Tourism Personality, Destination Development Award, Destination Experience Award, Award for Best Shopping Experience, Award for Luxury Accommodation, Award for Standard Accommodation, Award for Basic Accommodation and Award for Tourism Communication.

High achievers from the hotel industry, airlines, tour operators, travel agencies, shopping centres and media will be recognised for their contribution to the tourism sector and economy.

Launched in 2009 by the SCTDA, the STE Awards have emerged as a standard bearer and one of the important events of the tourism and hospitality industry in the region. It is an initiative to encourage all players of the tourism industry to constantly improve and excel in offering services that are of international standards, contributing to the development of the tourism sector and economy in the emirate.

Based on specific criteria and conditions, the STE Awards are granted every year to those who have sought to apply highest internationally recognised standards of quality and professionalism in the tourism sector that are also in harmony with the environment and traditions of the emirate.
