Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, hosted a delegation from the Bahrain Civil Service Bureau at the airline’s headquarters earlier this week conducting a comprehensive tour of the carrier’s Information Technology department and function.
During the tour, which included a meeting with Gulf Air’s A/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam, members of Bahrain’s Civil Service Bureau had the opportunity to learn about Gulf Air’s Information Technology practices and Quality and Information Security Management Systems. Gulf Air’s Director of Information Technology Dr. Jassim Haji received the delegates presenting the airline’s Quality Management System and showcasing approaches and processes that are followed by the airline’s Information Technology department to ensure quality standards and enhance customer satisfaction.
Dr. Jassim Haji commented: “We are delighted to welcome members of Bahrain’s Civil Service Bureau to our headquarters, sharing our Information Security Management experience and showcasing our Information Security Management System to them. Gulf Air was recently awarded the highly sought-after ISO 9001 Certification (Quality Management), ISO 20000 Certification (Service Management) and, for the second year in a row, the ISO 27001 Certification (Information Security Management System) and during this visit we shared more information in regards to the controls and solutions which are in place to secure Gulf Air’s information assets.”
Ms. Amal Salem Shaheen, Bahrain Civil Service Bureau Director Management Information Directorate, thanked the airline saying: “We thank Gulf Air for the sharing of valuable information on best practice and procedures that is highly beneficial to our organization. We are delighted to see our national carrier’s support and commitment to our work and do not doubt that there will be more opportunities in future for mutual learning and benefit. Furthermore, we are impressed with the established framework of high-end processes and the information security management measures.
Recently, Gulf Air became the first airline in the region to be certified with Information Technology ISO certifications in the three areas of Quality Management, Service Management and Information Security Management Systems following a comprehensive internal and external audit. To date, Gulf Air is one of few regional airlines to hold the global ISO certification for its information security management system. The national carrier’s most recent IT achievements include being the first organization in Bahrain to introduce Private Cloud Computing in its IT operations that enables it to achieve much faster and more efficient business performance, resulting in enhanced customer service in every step of passengers’ journeys.
