An Emirates Airline flight coming from India crash-landed and burst into flames at Dubai International Airport on Wednesday, August 3 killing one firefighter in an intense blaze and bringing the world’s busiest international airport to a halt for several hours.
Emirates confirmed that flight EK521 travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India to Dubai has been involved in an accident at Dubai International Airport. All 300 passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the Boeing 777-300, which departed at 10.19am from Trivandrum International Airport and was scheduled to land at 12.50pm at Dubai International Airport.
Dubai International Airport (DXB) had suspended all arrivals and departures at Dubai International for nearly six hours after the incident.
The Operator Dubai Airports later said the airport resumed departure operations at 1830 hours and an hour later it commenced restricted arrival operations with priority given to larger aircraft.
On Thursday morning, Dubai Airports urged passengers check with their airlines for latest flight updates before leaving for the airport to avoid inconvenience.
